Our events to date

Past Events include:

  • The sell-out Living in Harmony Concert at the Royal Academy of Music in October 2003. The concert brought together distinguished Arabic, Jewish and Muslim musicians together for the first time and raised significant sums for charity as well as raising awareness of peaceful coexistence.
  • Celebration for Peace evening at St Mark’s Church, Islington that successfully brought together Middle Eastern food, music, photography, poetry and dance. March and December 2004.
  • Promises – HAFLA brought this Academy award nominated documentary about Palestinian and Israeli children to the Bloomsbury Theatre in London for two charitable screenings, introduced by former hostage Terry Waite OBE.
  • Crossing Borders – another very successful evening of food, music and dancing at St Mark’s Church in Islington. Three great Arab/Israeli/Muslim bands performed alongside an open mic session.
  • A Fiddle and an Oud – another extremely successful concert at the Royal Academy of Music which took place on Feb 27 2005 featuring unique professional Arabic, Jewish and Muslim musical collaborations
  • Synergy Club Night at SE1 – Hafla hosted a wonderful room at this huge club with Arab and Israeli Djs and live bands
  • Cooking From the Heart - in conjunction with Fertile Ground we hosted a beautiful evening at St Ethelburga's celebrating food from across the Middle East created by our friends and families with lovely music. This event will be reprised in the future.
